During his tenure as CEO of Kennedy and Coe (2003-2013), Kurt's focus was on how Kennedy and Coe can most effectively live its mission: "To Enhance the Well Being of Our People and the Clients We Serve."

Once introduced to Ron Baker and other VeraSage Fellows in 2007, Kurt led Kennedy and Coe on a journey to adopt "The Value Creation Process" that aligns the firm's business model with its mission and concepts espoused by VeraSage Institute. Kennedy and Coe is the first firm in the Major Firms Group of the AICPA, and Top 100 firms in the profession, that has adopted this value-based pricing model as its business model.

Prior to becoming CEO, Kurt served clients of the firm in a variety of industries and functional areas. He began his career in audit arena, moving to the tax planning arena, and as then as an overall business advisor to closely held businesses.

Kurt received his bachelors and masters degree from Fort Hays State University and has been with Kennedy and Coe since graduating from college. He has been active during his career in professional associations, having served the Kansas Society of CPAs as a Board Member, President, and other committees. He was the Kansas Delegate to the National Future Forum for CPA Vision Project in 1998 and served as a facilitator in that project. He also served as a Board Member of BDO Siedman's APAC Board.

Kurt is passionate about the ideas generated by VeraSage Institute and the future impact on the profession. His passion goes beyond his professional career and he greatly enjoys music (karaoke!!), golf, fishing, travel, and watching Kansas State athletic events with his family and friends.
