RainToday Conducting a Survey on Pricing

Ed Kless - 01/17/2008

Today is sure a busy day at the VeraSage Institute. First, Ron slaughters a consultant, to which Paul O’Byrne posts a response and now, an announcement that RainToday is conducting a survey on professional service (sorry their word, not mine) firm pricing.

It is incumbent on all VeraSage thinkers to please spend the 20-minutes filling this out. The survey can be found at --> http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=uJMDeOD9q69m3HT6VG3RIQ_3d_3d.

In return, RainToday will provide you with a copy of one of their more popular reports. I have read most of them and they are quite good. Here is the list:

  • The Professional Services E-Guide To Online PR (PDF)
  • How To Write And Market A White Paper E-Guide (PDF)
  • How To Become A Thought Leader E-Guide (PDF)
  • How To Set Appointments Through Cold Calling E-Guide (PDF)
  • Marketing Strategy, Planning, and Budgeting for Professional Services (Webinar Recording)

Please take the time (thank God you don’t have to fill out a timesheet) to fill this out today.

REGARDING THE YANK STRIKES BACK-

Here is my story:  I stopped using timesheets
for billing in 1995.  And I stopped using
timesheets altogether in 1998, because they
were a waste of time.  What a difference this made in terms of both money and enjoyment...my team members included.

But that’s not all I did in 1998.  To fully
commit myself to my “fight against time,” I
also threw away my wristwatch (yes, it was
cheap...).  But after being watch-less for 2
years, things got real tricky because…

In 2000 I was confronted with a huge dilemma.
A customer gave me a “bonus” in the form of a Rolex watch with a retail price of $ 7,000
plus (gee, no customer ever did that when I
was keeping timesheets...).

But I remained steadfast in my “fight against time.” I gave the Rolex to my wife
and she used it to buy some jewelry for herself.  Talk about taking one for the “Trash Your Timesheet Team.”

I’ve got to be the only CPA in the world who
ever gave up a Rolex watch along with time-
sheets...how’s that for commitment.

But after all, giving up timesheets changed
my life, as well as the lives of my team
members...and I dare David Connell’s time-
sheets to ever accomplish that.

So I’ll go one better than Ron Baker:  trash
your timesheet AND throw your wristwatch away
(unless your watch is really expensive, in
which case give it to my wife...).
